before the May 19 special election, State Senator Joe Simitian will join us for
an interactive dialogue on the state’s economic recovery and the wide number of
challenges currently facing California. Please plan to participate at the
Fridays Around the Bay on Friday, May 15 from 12:00-1:30 at Lucile Packard

you know, California is facing its most difficult budget
challenge in years with the newly announced shortfall of more than $20 billion
by the Legislative Analyst’s Office. Senator Simitian will offer his candid
observations on whether the state going in the right direction and what
solutions are available to assist in the economic recovery. Additionally, as
Chair of the Environmental Quality Committee and member of several other
Committees: Budget, Energy –
Utilities – and Communications, Natural Resources and Water, and Transportation
and Housing, we will hear his insights on state water reform, mandated renewable
energy use, and lowering the threshold to allow school parcel taxes to name a
few.
